Principal Engineer, Security Product Marketing (RZ MPU Family)

Responsibilities

• Product Security Strategy, Market Intelligence & Technology Pathfinding
• Define and drive security strategy for the RZ MPU portfolio , aligned with evolving threat landscapes, application requirements, and regulatory mandates
• Analyze emerging security threats, attack vectors, and system vulnerabilities across industrial, IoT, and edge AI domains
• Track and interpret global security regulations, legislations, and standards (e.g., CRA, RED, PSA, SESIP, NIST frameworks) and translate into actionable product direction
• Lead technology pathfinding initiatives in areas such as: Post-quantum cryptography
• Hardware root of trust and secure enclaves
• Secure lifecycle management and provisioning
• Secure AI/ML model protection
• Shape long-term security architecture evolution for RZ MPU platforms , ensuring scalability, interoperability, and compliance
• Product Definition & Security Architecture Integration
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to define security requirements at silicon, software, and system levels
• Translate security strategies into clear product requirements , including: Security IP (crypto engines, key management, secure boot)
• Middleware and software stacks
• Certification and compliance frameworks
• Drive end-to-end "secure-by-design" product definitions , ensuring integration across hardware, software, tools, and ecosystem
• Lead definition of platform-level security capabilities for MPU-based systems, including multi-domain integration (compute, connectivity, control, and AI)
• Standards, Certification & Regulatory Leadership
• Represent Renesas in industry security standards bodies and consortia , influencing direction and aligning internal roadmaps
• Drive participation in certification ecosystems (e.g., PSA Certified, SESIP, CAVP, CMVP ) and ensure alignment with product timelines
• Define and implement compliance strategies to meet regional and vertical-specific regulations (industrial, automotive-adjacent, IoT)
• Act as internal expert guiding teams on security compliance, certification readiness, and audit preparedness
• Applied Security & Solutions Leadership
• Lead use-case driven security definition , aligned to key applications such as industrial automation, robotics, and edge AI
• Develop reference architectures, solution concepts, and proof-of-concepts (POCs) demonstrating Renesas security value proposition
• Drive security assessments and threat modeling at system level across customer and vertical requirements
• Collaborate with ecosystem partners to deliver complete security solutions (cloud integration, provisioning, lifecycle management)
• Customer, Ecosystem & Cross-Functional Engagement
• Engage with key customers, partners, and field teams to understand real-world security challenges and deployment needs
• Act as a trusted advisor on security architecture and strategy for MPU-based systems
• Work across global teams including Product Management, Engineering, FAE, Sales, and Corporate Security to ensure alignment and execution
• Provide technical enablement and training to internal and external stakeholders on security features and best practices
• Portfolio Competitiveness & Positioning
• Drive competitive benchmarking of security capabilities across MPU vendors, identifying gaps and differentiation opportunities
• Define and articulate Renesas security value proposition , including integrated hardware/software security, standards alignment, and ecosystem readiness
• Influence roadmap investments to ensure long-term competitiveness and leadership in secure embedded processing
• Technical Expertise
• Deep understanding of embedded security architectures , including secure boot, cryptography, key management, and trusted execution environments
• Experience with security standards, certifications, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., PSA, SESIP, NIST, CRA)
• Familiarity with MPU/SoC architec

Position Summary The Principal Engineer, Security Product Marketing leads the definition and strategic direction of product security for the Renesas RZ MPU family , spanning RZ/G, RZ/V, RZ/T, and RZ/N series.
