Description of Work Reporting to a Correctional Programs Supervisor, this position is responsible for conducting initial assessments of offender needs and developing case plans, monitoring for compliance and results, and revising as appropriate to meet offender needs and achieve system objectives. Key Duties Include: - Assess offender behavior and develop counseling strategies to achieve desired offender progress. - Answer offender questions, provide information about classification, sentencing status and correspond with offender's families providing supportive counseling. - Organize and direct activities of various rehabilitation programs. - Conduct work release and home leave investigations, coordinating community resources, and planning and coordinating transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community. - Make recommendations to the offender classification committees on an offenders program involvement or custody level change. - Work with offenders whose problems, needs, and comprehension levels vary greatly. - Work in all sections of a Close, Medium, and Minimum Custody prison facility, which places them in constant contact with offenders. - Serve in a custody role during certain activities and working some evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
