  • Barrett, The Honors College at ASU's Tempe campus, is seeking an Honors Academic Success Advisor to join our collaborative advising team. We are looking for individuals who are committed to supporting high-achieving students and thriving in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.

  • Honors Academic Success Advisors play a key role in supporting initiatives that inspire students to embrace challenges and seize unique academic, research, internship, global leadership, and experiential learning opportunities of impact on ASU and its surrounding communities.
  • Essential Duties:
  • Provide individual and group advising to a large cohort of honors students, supporting retention and graduation by guiding them through the honors curriculum and encouraging participation in meaningful honors community experiences.
  • Guide students through the honors thesis process, offering individual advising, thesis workshops, and online resources.
  • Respond proactively to student inquiries and requests for assistance, escalating urgent issues to advising leadership as needed.
  • Share co-curricular opportunities and resources that align with students' personal interests and goals, including honors-specific programs and university-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate student records and monitor progress using systems such as PeopleSoft, DARS, and Salesforce.
  • Become proficient in various technological tools and systems, including student record databases, degree progress reports, and appointment scheduling systems.
  • Stay informed about key university and department resources, sharing this knowledge with new team members and colleagues.
  • Participate in college committees and support university events, including New Student Orientation, Fall Welcome, Family Weekend, Homecoming, the Celebrating Honors Thesis Symposium, and Convocation.
  • Assist with advising and student services projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Evidence of or plans to pursue a Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with honors, high-achieving, or gifted students in an academic or student services field; experience with honors college or program is preferred.
  • Proven ability to deliver personalized, high-quality service and support to students in one-on-one interactions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather information, resolve issues with leadership guidance, and proactively expand knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with students, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of university curriculum requirements and student development theory, with the ability to apply this knowledge to support student success.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team and with external partners to provide comprehensive student support.
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a structured team environment, with experience assisting in a variety of programs and projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), PeopleSoft, and data analysis tools.
  • Working Environment:
  • The role requires daily use of a desktop computer, including visual acuity, manual dexterity, and repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Essential duties may also involve bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Salary : $46,200 per year
