Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Terminal (Fixed Term) Job Profile: Research Specialist Job Summary: The Reyes Ruiz Lab in the Department of Pathobiological Sciences at the School of Veterinary Medicine is looking for a full-time Research Specialist to join our team. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to assist with the day-to-day operations of our lab with research focused on host-pathogen interactions during Staphylococcus aureus infection. For more information on the lab, visit www.reyesruizlab.org . Ideal candidates would run experiments, assays, and record results under supervision maintaining impeccable record keeping. Laboratory environment contains biological and chemical hazards. The selected candidate must be able to wear protective equipment, handle and provide standard care to research animals, and standing or sitting may be required for long periods of time. There will be occasional lifting over 35 pounds. Key Job Responsibilities: Performs literature reviews and writes reports (5%) Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences (5%) Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results (70%) Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials (5%) Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area.
