Responsibilities

  • Participate in all stages of the connection and mechanical preparation of magnet assemblies to their test benches.
  • Follow up the production of mechanical pieces in the workshop, or through procurement with companies.
  • For new type of magnet, modify and create 3D models and drawings to prepare interfaces.

  • Eligibility criteria:
  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .
  • By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Mechanics (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is a general secondary education diploma .
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree are not eligible.

  • Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week

As a mechanical technician you will contribute to the test facility for superconducting magnets with a focus on preparation and connection of superconducting magnets to their test bench. You will prepare mechanical drawings for bench modification, support in-field connection of magnets to test benches and follow up production in the workshop or through procurement.
