Employment Status: Full time Shift: Day (United States of America) Facility: 1906 Belleview Ave SE - Roanoke Requisition Number: R161011 RN I - 4 West - Ambulatory Surgery Unit (Open) How You'll Help Transform Healthcare: The RN provides professional nursing care to patients across all age groups, supporting patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and high-quality patient outcomes. The RN Provides individualized patient care and coordinates care delivery for patients of all ages. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimal outcomes. Completes and documents age-specific assessments to support development of care plans. Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans. Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents care in electronic medical records. Identifies and addresses patient and family education needs. Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives. Advocates for patients and supports their rights and psychosocial needs. Applies knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care. Demonstrates clinical expertise in dynamic and changing care environments. Implements strategies to improve patient outcomes and resource utilization. Serves as a role model and supports development of peers and team members. Manages resources, prioritizes tasks, and adapts to changing patient care needs. Supports orientation and training of new employees. Uses problem-solving skills to address patient care and operational challenges. Provides feedback and participates in shared decision-making activities. Supports education activities within the department. Maintains confidentiality and complies with regulatory and organizational standards. Department Overview The Phase II and Phase III Post-Operative Care Departments provide specialized care for patients transitioning from anesthesia recovery to discharge readiness. Phase II (Recovery/Step-Down Care): Focuses on continued monitoring and stabilization of patients following Phase I recovery. Nurses ensure patients meet discharge criteria, manage pain and nausea, provide education, and support safe transitions to home. Phase III (Extended Recovery/Procedure Care): Provides care for patients requiring additional observation or extended recovery prior to discharge. This area emphasizes patient education, follow-up care instructions, and readiness for discharge in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. These departments play a critical role in patient safety, satisfaction, and efficient throughput by ensuring patients are clinically stable and well-prepared for post-operative recovery outside the hospital setting. Schedule Typical shifts include: Mix of 0645-1915, 700-1930, 0730-2000, 0800-2030, 0830-2100 Flexibility required to meet patient care volume and operational demands What We Require: Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required. Experience: None. Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required or eligibility to obtain licensure required. Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP may be required based on assigned work area. Other Minimum Qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required, including use of electronic medical records. For Behavioral Health roles, must demonstrate ability to safely manage disruptive or potentially violent patients.
