Responsibilities
- Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statutory financial statements and management reports in compliance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
- Support the Accounting Manager in group consolidation activities and audit coordination.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure accurate cost allocation across projects and entities.
- Tax & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local tax obligations, including VAT, withholding tax, and corporate income tax.
- Liaise with external advisors and auditors to manage statutory filings and audit requirements.
- Support intercompany accounting, transfer pricing documentation, and tax reporting for cross-border operations.
- Process Improvement & Systems
- Contribute to the rollout and optimization of accounting systems (ERP, expense management, automation tools).
- Streamline processes and controls to ensure scalability as the company expands into new markets.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures that align with group standards.
- Lead and improve internal control and financial reporting processes.
- Business Partnering
- Work closely with FP&A, Treasury, and Project teams to provide reliable financial data and insights.
- Support project-level accounting for infrastructure investments, including CAPEX tracking and cost control.
- Translate accounting outputs into actionable information for management decision-making.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Accountant (CC) in Portugal, or in the process of certification.
- 5-8 years of experience in accounting, preferably in similar role, audit, infrastructure, or multinational environments.
- Strong knowledge of Portuguese GAAP ; familiarity with IFRS is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (SAP, or similar).
- Ability to build strong relationships across teams and earn trust through professionalism and reliability.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English .
- Experience in capital-intensive or project-based industries (e.g., energy, construction, real estate, or data centers) is a plus.
- Previous involvement in process automation or system implementations.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to balance detail orientation and speed.
