Job Duties Acts as the primary advocate for patients' nutrition care, assessing and determining nutritional needs based on age and disease-specific requirements. Develops, implements, and monitors nutrition interventions to ensure their effectiveness and outcomes. Provide individual and/or group nutritional education to patients, families, and caregivers, serving as a resource for students, medical staff, and healthcare team members. Conducts nutrition assessments, evaluates the need for enteral and parenteral nutrition support, and communicates necessary dietary adjustments with physicians. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in alignment with Jefferson's core values, maintaining regular, punctual attendance. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field. Strong knowledge of nutrition and dietetics principles. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans Proficiency in patient education and counseling. Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems. Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry trends RD - Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic Registration Within 180 Days Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field preferred for those registered prior to January 1, 2024 and required for those graduating after January 1, 2024. RD - Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic Registration Additional Qualifications Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
