Position: Underwriter, International Trade Guarantee (level 14 - 18) Employment Type: Permanent Compensation Details: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience, and typically range as set out below. EDC also offers a performance-based incentive. Underwriter level 14: $58,189 - $77,586 Underwriter level 15: $65,172 - $86.898 Underwriter level 16: $74,297 - $99,063 Underwriter level 17: $84,698 - $112,931 Underwriter level 18: $96,557 - $128,743 This process will fill one current vacancy and will also be used to build a pool for future Underwriter opportunities at levels 14-18 over the next 12 months. Candidates will be assessed at the level that best aligns with their experience and demonstrated capability. Location: Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, with a current requirement of two days per week increasing to three days per week in September 2026 (subject to change). This role can be performed from EDC's headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, or Vancouver. Team Overview: The International Trade Guarantee (ITG) team helps Canadian companies access the bank guarantee and bonding solutions they need to pursue opportunities in international markets. Working closely with financial institutions and internal partners, the team delivers solutions that support Canadian exporters as they grow internationally while enabling EDC to manage risk responsibly. As part of ITG, you would join a collaborative team that plays an important role in helping customers navigate trade opportunities with confidence. What you will be doing: Manage a portfolio of underwriting files and support transactions through their full lifecycle, from early assessment and structuring through issuance and ongoing risk management. Assess credit and non-credit risks and recommend appropriate mitigants to support sound underwriting decisions. Structure transactions to meet customer needs while aligning with EDC's risk policies, procedures and requirements, including pricing, documentation, and stakeholder coordination. Apply EDC policies, procedures, risk requirements, and relevant regulatory expectations when assessing and structuring transactions. Build and maintain strong relationships with business development partners, with customers, financial institutions, sureties, and other internal partners to deliver responsive, practical underwriting solutions and support strong client outcomes. Support continuous improvement by sharing feedback on underwriting processes, tools, and ways of working. Depending on your level, manage files of increasing complexity, autonomy, and visibility-from supporting routine transactions with guidance at levels 14-15, to independently handling standard to moderately complex work at level 16 and 17, to leading and advising on more complex or irregular transactions at level 18. What we are looking for: Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or another relevant discipline.
