About the role
The Senior Advisor, Strategic Alignment plays a critical role in shaping and advancing the Alberta Energy Regulator's (AER) strategic direction. Working closely with the Board of Directors, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and leaders across the organization, you will lead the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of the AER's enterprise strategy. What your day-to-day will look like: Lead and facilitate enterprise strategy development, planning, and implementation processes that support organizational alignment and achievement of the AER's strategic priorities. Partner with leaders across the organization to develop, refine, and monitor strategic plans, ensuring alignment between branch objectives, enterprise priorities, and desired outcomes. Provide strategic advice, analysis, and recommendations to senior leaders on emerging issues, risks, opportunities, and organizational priorities. Design, implement, and continuously improve strategic planning frameworks, governance processes, tools, and performance measures to support effective decision-making and organizational accountability. Support enterprise prioritization and portfolio oversight activities by maintaining governance processes, tools, and reporting that enable senior leadership to assess strategic initiatives, monitor progress, and align resources with organizational priorities. Develop reports, briefing materials, presentations, and executive-level communications that translate complex information into clear, actionable insights for decision-makers. Monitor progress against strategic objectives, identify trends and risks, and provide recommendations to support successful strategy execution and organizational performance. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and engagement activities to build alignment, gain stakeholder input, and advance enterprise initiatives. Partner with Communications and business areas to support clear enterprise-wide understanding of organizational priorities, strategic initiatives, and planning outcomes. Lead or support special projects and strategic initiatives that contribute to organizational effectiveness, continuous improvement, and achievement of corporate objectives. What we're looking for in you: Bachelor's degree Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related discipline. 12+ years of progressively responsible experience leading enterprise strategy development, environmental scanning, performance measurement, and strategic planning initiatives within the public sector, energy industry, or a similarly complex environment. Demonstrated success developing and advancing enterprise-level strategies, with a strong understanding of the role, responsibilities, and operating environment of an energy regulator. Exceptional facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills, with proven experience engaging executive leaders, boards, and diverse stakeholder groups to align priorities and drive outcomes. Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, including experience interpreting complex data, assessing risks and performance impacts, and providing strategic recommendations to support informed decision-making. Proven ability to influence and advise executive leadership and Boards through the design and facilitation of complex strategic discussions, planning sessions, and decision-making processes. Location: Calgary, AB Employment Type: Full Time - Permanent Salary Range: SP5 Level 7, $151,980- $178,800 per year.
