Directly or indirectly, supervises employees. Plans and assigns work, sets priorities, advises employees on program goals and objectives and makes decisions on work problems presented by subordinate employees. Sets performance standards and appraises work. Approves or disapproves leave, and personnel actions. Must be alert to substance abuse and take appropriate action. Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs. Oversees maintenance and enforcement of the security of resources and develops procedures to minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse. Develops and ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with Base Safety directives. Ensures conduct of safety meetings. Advises employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents to the Human Resources Office. Ensures safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with Return To Work program initiatives and following up on employee well-being. QUALIFICATIONS: Five-years professional experience that demonstrates management skills involving planning, coordinating, and directing a diversified organization. Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in business management, sports management, exercise physiology, public health or other related field. A thorough knowledge of business practices, economic principles and ability to analyze trends and make improvements. Must possess skills to manage complex programs: ability to resolve or negotiate a variety of sensitive problem situations, budgeting experience, and an ability to effectively communicate with senior military and civilian personnel. Experience working within the military, first responder or collegiate community to include organization structure, budgeting, special event planning and execution, and facility maintenance and design is highly desired. Must have strong oral and written communications skills. Demonstrates a willingness to implement and support EEO, Reasonable Accommodations, the standards as outlined in the Negotiated Agreement, and other employee initiatives and safety programs. Ability to provide leadership, mentor, guide and train subordinate staff. Must be certified in CPR within 6 months of employment. Must file and initial an annual Confidential Financial Disclosure report (OGE form 450).
