About the role
The general accounting specialist will be a motivated and organized individual with a strong ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The general accounting specialist oversee day to day accounting, including but not limited to journal entry preparation and approval, month end closing and account reconciliations. The general accounting specialist will assist with global standardization as well as various ad hoc projects.
Responsibilities
- Owning all aspects of the global accounting cycle for a comprehensive set of balance sheet accounts including the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close
- Preparing and reviewing journal entries, verify accuracy and work with staff to correct issues
- Owning the external royalty provisions, liaising with various departments to gather information relating to external royalties, ensuring accurate reporting
- Preparing and reviewing general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and reports, identify, and correct issues raised at the global or regional level
- Own the monthly foreign exchange program
- Audit support pertaining to corporate and local audits
- Identify process improvements and help with global standardization.
- Examine and analyze accounting and financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures
- Work on Ad hoc projects based on the requirements from Global Finance team
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; degree in accounting or finance preferred
- CPA (or equivalent) preferred
- 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting with global exposure to multiple countries
- SAP experience
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (other languages are a plus)
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with global team
- High attention to detail & time management
- Strong Investigative skills & ability to troubleshoot
- Legal authorization to work in Canada

- Blackline experience - preparing and approving account reconciliations

- The salary range for this position is $ 76,500 - $95,500 CAD annually. This position is also eligible to participate in Mitel's bonus plan. Exact Compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, market data and existing team equity.
