Responsibilities

  • North America Accounting Leadership
  • Provide leadership over North America Record-to-Report (RTR) activities, ensuring adherence to U.S. GAAP and BD accounting policies

  • Support governance of the global close calendar, submission standards, and review protocols
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of the consolidated balance sheet and financial statements
  • Partner with regional and corporate teams to align U.S. GAAP and local GAAP reporting requirements
  • Continuous Improvement & Transformation
  • Lead initiatives to standardize and optimize accounting processes across North America and consolidation activities
  • Identify and implement automation and analytics opportunities across close and reporting processes
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, including root-cause analysis and process redesign
  • Support enterprise transformation programs, including system enhancements and operating model evolution
  • Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as a key North American liaison with the Business and Corporate functions to establish two-way communication that is fluid and timely to create a collaborative environment to ensure transactions are captured completely and accurately within the financial statements
  • Partner with the business to provide meaningful insights into actual financial performance and advise on impacts of nonstandard business activities
  • Represent North America and consolidation priorities in global governance forums
  • Drive alignment across cross-functional stakeholders to ensure end-to-end finance coordination
  • Leadership & Talent Development
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of accounting professionals across North America and corporate consolidation teams
  • Foster a strong controllership culture emphasizing accountability, integrity, and technical rigor
  • Support talent strategy, succession planning, and capability development across the accounting function
  • Lead through change with strong communication, engagement, and talent retention strategies

Requirements

  • B.S. in Accounting required; Master's degree preferred
  • CPA or significant technical accounting experience required
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experienc

The Senior Director, North America & Consolidations is a senior Controllership leader responsible for governing North America accounting operations and leading enterprise-wide consolidation activities within BD's centralized accounting operating model. This role ensures timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting, while driving standardization, operational rigor, and continuous improvement across North America close processes and corporate consolidation activities. The position serves as a critical linkage between accounting execution (GBS RTR, Accounting Centers of Excellence, and consolidations team) and Business Unit and Corporate Function Finance and Operational Leaders in North America. The role also plays a pivotal leadership position in audit readiness, financial close governance, and transformation initiatives, reinforcing BD's objectives of improved accountability, consistency, and audit efficiency.
