About the role
The Staff Supplier Quality Engineer plays a critical role in enabling the scale and reliability of Agility Robotics' hardware systems. About the Work Define and execute supplier quality strategy to support rapid scaling of robotic hardware production while maintaining high reliability and performance Drive initiatives that enable rapid scaling of supplier quality operations without compromising product quality, reliability, or compliance Lead supplier qualification and development, including audits, risk assessments, and capability evaluations to ensure a robust Approved Supplier List (ASL) Drive end-to-end part qualification processes (FAI, PPAP) for new products, suppliers, and design changes, ensuring production readiness Partner with Engineering early in the design phase to influence DFM/DFA decisions and ensure manufacturability and supplier readiness Establish and scale supplier quality systems, standards, and processes that enable consistent execution across programs Analyze supplier performance data to drive measurable improvements in quality, yield, and delivery through targeted corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) Lead complex supplier escalations, including root cause analysis (RCA), 8D investigations, and implementation of sustainable corrective actions Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to drive accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement Collaborate with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to mitigate risks, resolve quality issues, and improve end-to-end supply chain performance Mentor and provide technical leadership to other SQEs and cross-functional partners Key Qualifications and Skills Deep expertise in manufacturing processes including die casting, stamping, forging, CNC machining, and injection molding, with strong understanding of process capability and controls Experience with electromechanical systems such as actuators, gearboxes, precision assemblies, PCBA/EMS, and harnessing Strong knowledge of quality systems and tools including PPAP, FAI, CAPA, 8D, FMEA, control plans, and SPC Advanced proficiency in GD&T and its application in design, inspection, and supplier qualification Demonstrated ability to assess and develop suppliers, including leading audits and driving performance improvements Strong analytical skills with experience using tools such as Minitab, JMP, Excel, or similar for data-driven decision-making Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels in a fast-paced, scaling environment Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (25-50%) About You Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus 10+ years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering or related roles in hardware manufacturing environments Proven track record of leading supplier quality initiatives across NPI and production Strong experience building or scaling supplier quality systems and processes Deep understanding of QMS frameworks and experience developing and improving SOPs and standards Demonstrated success driving root cause analysis, corrective actions, and supplier performance improvements Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments (robotics, automotive, aerospace, or similar industries preferred) ASQ certifications (CQE, CSQP, CMQ/OE) are a plus Familiarity with tools such as Net-Inspect and PLM/QMS systems is a plus Work Environment & Physical Demands This role is based onsite in Salem, OR and requires regular interaction with hardware, manufacturing environments, and supplier sites. The position involves a combination of desk-based work and time spent on the production floor or at supplier locations.
