Requirements

The Consumer Health Division performs comprehensive consumer and environmental health work including the review of building plans, issuance of health permits, and conducting routine health inspections of; food establishments, childcare centers, public pools, hotels, and temporary events. The Division protects the public by investigating foodborne illnesses and preventing the spread of West Nile virus. A Senior Consumer Health Specialist leads, monitors, assigns, and participates in the work of employees responsible for performing a variety of consumer and environmental health duties. They perform quality assurance reviews to ensure established policies and procedures are being followed. They will also oversee and lead special projects and address complex health issues and investigations. Lastly, they provide staff training and development to ensure Consumer Health continues to succeed in each program the Division regulates.
