About the role

As an AML Analyst, you will be part of Gilbert + Tobin's AML/CTF compliance and client onboarding function. You will support client due diligence, onboarding, risk assessment and ongoing monitoring to ensure work is completed efficiently and in line with regulatory and internal requirements. In the role, you will work closely with the AML/CTF team, conflicts team, business intake team, Partners, Lawyers and business services teams. You will also gather information, complete due diligence tasks and help keep onboarding processes accurate and moving. This is a hands-on role where your attention to detail, organisation and judgement contribute directly to effective risk management and a strong client experience. The role is a permanent role based in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth.

Responsibilities

  • Complete client due diligence for new and existing clients, including reviewing identity, ownership and control information
  • Support client and matter risk assessments by gathering and validating information across firm systems and stakeholders
  • Liaise with Partners, Lawyers and clients to obtain and clarify onboarding information
  • Assist with beneficial ownership checks, corporate structure reviews and enhanced due diligence for higher-risk matters
  • Identify and escalate incomplete, inconsistent or unusual information, including potential red flags
  • Maintain accurate AML/CTF records and support ongoing monitoring and periodic reviews
  • Work with AML/CTF, conflicts and business intake teams to support a coordinated onboarding process
  • Contribute to process improvements, guidance materials and AML/CTF training initiatives
  • About you
  • You enjoy working in a structured, process-driven environment where accuracy and follow-through matter. You are organised, detail-focused and comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders. You communicate clearly, use sound judgement and take pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • You will also have:
  • Experience in AML/CTF, KYC, compliance, legal administration or a similar role, ideally in a legal or professional services environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence working with stakeholders to gather information and follow up outstanding items
  • Sound judgement, with the ability to identify issues and escalate where appropriate
  • Confidence using databases, workflow tools and business systems
  • Ability to handle confidential information with care and professionalism
