Requirements

• According to Chalmers' Appointment Regulation for teaching and research staff, a Visiting Professor must:
• Hold a full professorship, or an equivalent appointment at the highest academic rank, at a reputable university.
• Be able to contribute to both research and education at Chalmers, including supervision and mentoring of students and early‑career researchers.
• Be prepared to take an active role in collaboration with external partners and in the academic life of the hosting department.

• This is an open call aimed at established researchers who have an outstanding record of scientific achievement and are internationally recognised as an academic leader within their field and who wish to spend a period of time in Gothenburg.
• Expression of interest/application
• If you are interested in exploring a Visiting Professor appointment at Chalmers, please submit an expression of interest including:
• A brief cover letter describing:
• your motivation for applying for the visiting professorship;
• your proposed area(s) of collaboration;
• the part(s) of Chalmers' research, education, innovation, or other activities to which you would like to contribute; and
• your preferred timing and duration of the visit
• a short CV with selected key publications and major grants or honours
• a statement (1-2 pages) describing how you envision contributing to Chalmers' development and its long‑term vision.

The Academic Excellence Visiting Professor Programme is a strategic component of Chalmers' internationalisation strategy. The programme aims to strengthen academic excellence by attracting internationally recognised academic leaders who can contribute to the long-term development of Chalmers' research, education and international collaborations. Beyond individual academic achievements, the programme seeks to create lasting value through strategic partnerships, scientific leadership, mentorship and the development of strong academic environments. The Visiting Professor role As a Visiting Professor, you will contribute to the development of Chalmers' academic environments through research leadership, international collaboration, mentorship, doctoral education and strategic academic engagement. Activities may include initiating new research collaborations, strengthening international networks, contributing to educational development, mentoring early-career researchers and supporting the long-term development of the host environment. The Academic Excellence Visiting Professor Programme at Chalmers will run during 2027-2028. The appointment is a part-time engagement, corresponding to up to 20% of a full-time position for a maximum of two years. Visiting professors are expected to maintain their affiliation with their home institution throughout the appointment. The level of engagement, duration and duties will be agreed jointly between the visiting professor, the host department and Chalmers. Financial arrangements will be tailored to the specific circumstances of each appointment. Please note that the position concerns a Visiting Professor and not a regular professorship with permanent employment.
