Engineering Technician

About the role

This position is located in the Design and Construction Team Project Section of the Facilities Maintenance Service (FMS) at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One year specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-10 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include: technical work in drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems; trade or craft work if the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents and with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities (i.e., a planner/estimator analyzing designs for production purposes, or instrument/model maker performing design or development work on devices fabricated). This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. ~OR~ A Ph.D. or 3 years of successfully completed progressively higher level graduate education from an accredited institution leading to a doctorate in a field directly related to the position (i.e., engineering, construction, industrial technology, etc.). Transcripts required. ~OR~ An equivalent combination of specialized experience and progressively higher level graduate education as described that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts required. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
