About the role
Reporting to the Senior Lead, Fish, the Lead, Fish Monitoring is responsible for delivering fish population and fish habitat monitoring studies across EVR's operations. Key responsibilities include the design, planning, and execution of fish population and fish habitat monitoring programs, as well as supervising a team of direct reports, consultants, and contractors implementing fish and fish habitat monitoring programs across the Elk Valley. Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Science or Engineering in an environmental-related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in fish population, fish habitat, or related fields in the natural resource sector, preferably in mining
- Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Biologist in British Columbia
- Strong knowledge in fisheries science, including fish population assessment and habitat monitoring methods, with experience collecting, interpreting, and applying field data to inform programs
- Demonstrated experience in reviewing technical reports, study designs, biological monitoring programs, and regulatory submissions related to fisheries management
- Ability to mentor individuals and work collaboratively while fostering continuous improvement and growth
- Excellent communication skills, with experience engaging internal leadership and external stakeholders
- Passion for building relationships and fostering effective collaboration with Indigenous Nations, regulatory agencies, local communities
- Experience with provincial and federal regulatory approvals practices, legislation and regulations, especially within British Columbia
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent
