POSITION SUMMARY The Physician Assistant (PA) at CHEO works alongside the physician on inpatient mental health and in a mental health outpatient aftercare clinic to provide care to the patients requiring these services. The PA integrates the skills and knowledge from a medical model of practice. The PA functions both autonomously and in collaboration with physicians and other health care providers to manage patient care in a comprehensive manner. Working closely with the Interdisciplinary team, the physician assistant will participate in the management of patients admitted to inpatient mental health during their admission and/or for a time limited period after discharge and will be involved in medication/treatment management and focused risk assessment.
