About the role
As manager of Vessel Accounting team, he/she is responsible for the timely preparation and submission of monthly OPEX reports for all vessels assigned under the various entities. OPEX reporting would include reporting of the financials in the owners' format. Maintain good relationship with and communicating efficiently with Principals/Ship Owners on vessel accounting. Monitoring of funds status of his/her portfolio of vessels and to ensure that funds are adequate to cover financial commitments of the principals. Spearhead the implementation of the Business Transformation innovation for accounting team and client(s). Coaching and supervising the finance team on daily recording and compliance of accounting standards, procedures, and internal controls. Ensure that accounting reports are in compliance with approved accounting regulations, standard, and practices. Analyze and review financial reports, schedules, and reconciliations to validate the accuracy of transactions. Monitor and ensure that designated Vessel Accountants submit monthly financial reports to Principals on a timely basis. Review the request for funds for Unbudgeted Expense, Dry Docking, and Comparison. Responsible for the administrative functions for the Vessel Department such as staff recruitment, job reallocation for staff on leave or left, review of adequacy of manpower at all times, and monitoring of staff training needs. Follow up on budgets for all new ships joining our management and change of fiscal year. Attend meetings with Owners/Principals as and when required. Liaising with external auditors appointed by the principals as required. Preparation of annual internal and external audit. Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional qualification. Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, CMA, ACCA or equivalent will be an advantage. 6 to 8 years of relevant finance or accounting experience, including financial reporting, management reporting, audit, commercial finance, vessel accounting or related areas. Experience in a Big 4 audit firm, listed company, maritime, ship management or vessel accounting environment will be an advantage. Good working knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (International), statutory reporting requirements, monthly closing, OPEX reporting, budget monitoring, and management reporting. Able to review financial reports, identify variances or potential financial/operational issues, and escalate matters in a timely manner. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong Microsoft Excel skills. Able to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate with cross-functional teams while supporting evolving business needs where required.
