Responsibilities

  • Project-Specific Activities -AV System Installation, Commissioning
  • Builds and Installs AV/IT technology solutions following detailed engineering and project management documentation. Identifies potential pitfalls related to timeline, design, budget, and implementation.

  • Provides tier-2 escalation support to Comm-IT Services & Production teams for AV/IT incidents.
  • Provides prompt and effective equipment maintenance/repair services in response to service orders for repair or maintenance of classroom AV equipment. Maintains deployed & hot-spare equipment in a state of readiness.
  • Project-Support Activities & Consulting
  • Consults with faculty and staff to develop new technology and improve existing technology solutions. Provide purchasing recommendations, solution design and setup consultation for faculty and staff.
  • Identifies client needs based on their desired requirements and provides thoughtful assessment of feasibility, support cost and financial cost for implementing the required solutions.
  • Ongoing Documentation & Quality Assurance
  • Provides testing and reports on quality assurance measures (such as audio or video calibration) for developed projects or equipment. Provides project documentation and training. Maintain accurate records in help ticket system, wikis, etc.
  • Creates written documentation such as application papers and written operating procedures for equipment systems which improve upon manufacturer's documentation for equipment systems and/or provide concise instructions for use based on the Technical Staff Assistant's practical experience with the equipment. Documentation shall be authored for a variety of audiences including technical support staff, instructors, and end users.

Remote work schedule for this position will vary as dictated by project & operational timelines and may not be possible some weeks. Purpose Perform installation tasks for audio visual projects including but not limited to: pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projectors and metal fabrication. Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
