I-77 Mobility Partners LLC is financing, developing, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the 26-mile I-77 Express project as part of a public-private partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The tolled express lanes run adjacent to the general-purpose lanes on I-77 between uptown Charlotte and Mooresville. I-77 Mobility Partners is responsible for operations and maintenance of all lanes, both express and general purpose, and right of way within the designated project corridor limits. Job Description: The Operations engineer works in roadway operations and maintenance and is part of the Roadway Operations and Maintenance Department. The individual is required to be competent in data collection and its consequent analysis to obtain efficient and practicable actions for the daily operations of the highway. This individual will report to the Operations Manager and will work closely with the C-suite management, engineers, employees, and external parties (contractors and consultants). He/she eventually will attend meetings with state and local officials.

Responsibilities

• As an Operations Engineer, you will support the safe and efficient operation of the I-77 corridor. Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting daily Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities, including inspections and routine maintenance coordination.
• Contributing to innovation initiatives, supporting the implementation of new tools, technologies, and process improvements across operations.
• Assisting in the development and delivery of operational projects, helping to improve performance, efficiency, and service quality across the corridor.
• Coordinating with maintenance crews, contractors, and the Traffic Management Center (TMC) to plan and execute field work.
• Tracking maintenance activities and preparing weekly and monthly performance reports.
• Promoting compliance with safety, environmental, and contractual requirements.
• Collaborating with internal teams and external partners, including NCDOT and contractors.
• Assisting with traffic control and lane closure planning to ensure safe work zone operations.
• Supporting incident response and traffic operations in coordination with the TMC.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
• 1-3+ years of experience in construction and/or roadway maintenance, or technical department in a major infrastructure developer are desirable
• Experience in data analytics is a must.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and in good standing.
• Effectively manages tasks and tight deadlines
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be very detail oriented and have analytical capabilities
• Innovative and flexible mindset
• Ability to interact with colleagues in a self-managed team structure
• Strong interpersonal communication, decision-making and resolution skills
• Must be able to multitask, problem solve and prioritize, within a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to demonstrate computer proficiency, especially within Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point, as well as PC based programs
• Experience in data analytics.
• CAD and/or MicroStation experience desirable
• Asset management tool and ArcGIS experience is a plus.
• Work Environment & Physical Demands:
• The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet
• Regular travel required, may include occasional air travel
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
