Ability to perform several widely varying and diverse assignments that require in-depth knowledge analysis and diagnostic work. Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals and us diagnostic tools to diagnose and determine best course of action for complex system repairs. Ability to troubleshoot complex vehicle repairs using the proper tools, resources, equipment and training. Ability to identify problems, determines solutions, and actively work to resolve these issues. Key Responsibilities including but not limited to: Perform regular preventive maintenance every 6,000 miles, diagnosing and repairing motor vehicle problems on NCSHP and other state law enforcement vehicles. Perform alignment procedures, regularly inspecting suspension and steering components making repair as necessary. Perform general automotive repair on NCSHP and other State law enforcement vehicles to include brakes, transmission repair and rebuild, engine, drive train, and climate control systems. Installing aftermarket emergency equipment and decals on NCSHP vehicles. Performing general automotive checks and repair in the following areas: alignment, brakes, climate control systems, drive train, engines, transmission repair and rebuild. Troubleshooting complex vehicle repairs using the proper tools, resources, equipment and training. The position will be required to design and maintain equipment that is unique to NCSHP for periodical use. After receiving specialized training, transport inmates to and from correctional facilities per NCSHP policy and supervise them in the garage while they perform tasks such as washing cars, cleaning buildings, and performing other odd jobs. Transport NCSHP and other agencies vehicles using a roll back wrecker for a variety of purposes. (Special events, new and old vehicles, etc.) Maintain garage cleanliness, including proper care of shop tools and equipment. Position/Physical Requirements: The work schedule is Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 6:00 pm (4/10-hour shift or 5/8-hour shift). This position may require an on-call availability after regular business hours (ex. nights/weekends).
