Job Title: Campus Chef Reports To: Head of School Purpose of Role The primary responsibility of the Campus Chef is to plan and provide healthy, nutritionally balanced, and culturally inclusive meals for children attending the service, while ensuring compliance with all Food Safety laws and requirements. Main Duties and Responsibilities Food Preparation - Prepare and cook nutritionally balanced meals that are age and developmentally appropriate. - Prepare meals and snacks in a timely manner within budget. - Provide alternative meals for children with allergies or dietary requirements. - Follow safe food practices, prioritising children with allergies. - Maintain high-quality food-preparation standards in accordance with the Food Act (1984) and FSANZ. - Work in accordance with the Food Safety Program and complete monitoring records. - Maintain kitchen equipment and report issues. - Ensure safe storage and organisation of kitchen areas. Administration & Planning - Liaise with suppliers and maintain community relationships. - Plan culturally inclusive seasonal menus. - Evaluate and adapt menus for dietary needs. - Display weekly menus for families. - Document meals, recipes, and contingency plans. - Maintain dietary requirement records. - Manage food purchasing and budget. - Ensure compliance with the Food Safety Program and audits. Quality Improvement and Training - Maintain a hygienic kitchen workspace. - Monitor safe food handling practices. - Provide feedback to management. - Engage with families regarding dietary needs. - Support cooking experiences for children. Knowledge & Skills - Strong communication skills. - Problem-solving abilities. - Understanding of food safety standards. Other Duties - Support herb and vegetable garden initiatives. - Participate in educational activities with children.
