Responsibilities

  • Inspection and Testing:
  • Perform thorough visual and dimensional inspections of all incoming raw materials, components, and finished goods according to established specifications, blueprints, and quality plans.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, hardness tester, measuring tables, optical comparators, 3D scanning, and CMMs to verify dimensions.
  • Conduct functional tests as required to ensure components operate as intended.
  • Verify all accompanying documentation, including certificates of conformity (CofCs), material test reports, and packing slips, for accuracy and completeness.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Record inspection results accurately and meticulously in the company's ERP system, quality management software, or inspection logs.
  • Create detailed reports for non-conforming materials (NCRs), including photographic evidence, and initiate the non-conforming material review process.
  • Maintain an organized system for all inspection records and documentation.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
  • Communicate with the purchasing, production, and engineering departments regarding the status of incoming materials.
  • Work closely with suppliers to address quality issues, provide feedback on non-conformances, and request corrective actions (SCARs - Supplier Corrective Action Requests).
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop or refine inspection procedures and standards.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Assist in the investigation and root cause analysis of quality issues identified during receiving inspection.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of receiving inspection processes and checklists.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline the inspection process without compromising quality.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and company quality protocols.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. An Associate's degree in a technical field or a relevant certification is a plus.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a quality inspection or manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for receiving inspection experience.
  • Proven experience using a wide range of precision measurement tools.
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Good manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse or manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
