Job Description As a SSM you will be responsible for purchase a specific portion of logistics services. The position will be responsible for sourcing and/ or suport sourcing of customs, CCA, ODCs, Drayage and Air Transportation Services. Responsible for conducting purchasing activities to support sourcing, contract and supplier management activities in line with departmental strategies and objectives. You will be responsible for supporting and executing logistics purchasing and daily operations for the material shipments to assembly, component plants and/ or warehouse locations domestically. Activities include but not limited to: - Sourcing and Contracting Activities that include but not limited to: Sourcing event bid strategy & management Coordination and alignment of Pre-RFQ and RFQ package components including Terms & Conditions, SOR, RFQ documentation Bid Analytics Strong collaboration with GM legal to draft and improve terms and conditions of contracts Complete leadership sourcing recommendation / alignment with 100% on-time sourcing Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to the GM Audit Services - Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items - Support commercial budget and cost reduction (joint process improvement) activities - Support logistics supplier management initiatives including "Strategic Supplier Engagement" Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution Participation in development and review of supplier KPIs - Lead Quarterly Business Reviews with key suppliers - Perform rate management activities including spot buys, fuel surcharge updates, customs tax, contract pricing adjustments, rate analysis and payment issue inquiries - Cross functional collaboration required with key stake holders, such as operations, network engineering, finance, technical accounting, and future program teams to create balanced recommendations for total enterprise benefit -Support cost studies with future program and network optimization teams allowing for new vehicle launch in the most efficient mode and further optimizations over life of program - Manage contract pipelines and keep pipeline updated This role requires the candidate to be comfortable operating and solving problems with a high degree of autonomy while working with stakeholders from a variety of different functional groups. Workload will require candidates to use their judgement to prioritize tasks that drive the maximum enterprise benefit for General Motors and the Global Purchasing and Supply Chain function.
