Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Assisting with filing, scanning, or maintaining HR documents within a personnel record system. Using automated systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, scanning software) to input or retrieve records data. Receiving, reviewing and ensuring completion of standard personnel forms. Following clearly defined HR procedures and guidelines to maintain confidentiality of employee files. Performing clerical or administrative support in an office setting involving document handling or file tracking. To qualify at the GS-06 level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the federal service performing duties such as: Independently reviewing, verifying, and processing HR documents within HR Systems. Conducting quality assurance checks to ensure proper documentation and compliance with federal guidelines. Using HR Systems (e.g., FHR Navigator, USA Staffing, NFC) to resolve case discrepancies or retrieve personnel data. Providing guidance to lower-graded staff regarding HR processing procedures or documentation. Identifying and correcting discrepancies in personnel files involving benefits, retirement, or other actions. Applying applicable rules, policies, or procedures to ensure proper filing, classification, and record maintenance. NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
