POSITION SUMMARY Located at our Byron Center, MI location, the person in this position would assist with receipt, transfer, and storage of incoming freight, as well as inspect and report orders for shipments in our Building Materials division. Day-to-day responsibilities include: Promoting a safe work environment for all employee owners Modeling Lumbermen's core values Communicating route changes with Drivers and Transportation Supervisor Inspect each transfer truck to ensure if something doesn't ship document 'why' and safely loaded within legal limits Under ship report - document what didn't ship that night and the root cause Document invalid cart tags Photos of all A-frames shipping Unloading incoming transfer trucks Identify ways to combine/maximize routes Leading and making improvements to housekeeping standards and continuous improvement initiatives Training, motivating, and coaching employee owners Maintaining a working knowledge of warehouse operations Approaching work each day with a positive attitude Treating Employee Owners in a professional manner Having a "customer first" mindset and mentality Ensuring that the work area is clean and organized Assisting with other tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the operation At Lumbermen's, we pride ourselves on treating our customers like family and delivering exceptional service. This position offers a $300 annual clothing allowance to offset costs for work apparel, protective footwear, and PPE. REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High School diploma/GED required Prior warehouse experience Fork lift experience, training experience preferred Move tractor/trailer in the yard, CDL A preferred not required REQUIRED SKILLS Ability to learn various computer programs Ability to problem solve for logistics Strong communication skills Safe working practices Natural detail-orientation Ability to accurately pull orders and load/unload trucks. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to do physical labor including lifting of up to 75lbs Ability to strap/unstrap loads Ability to open/close curtains Ability to climb in/out of trailers
