Learn more about: working at Simula and careers at Simula Project/Job description In the Department of Engineering Complex Software Systems, we are offering a PhD candidate or Postdoctoral research position within an EU-funded project focused on testing diverse quantum computing use cases on a quantum computer. The project involves progressively testing use cases (existing and new) across quantum simulators on local machines, HPC infrastructures, and ultimately a real quantum computer. The job also requires installing specialized quantum software testing tools and assessing their usability on use cases. The position provides an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology testing at the intersection of quantum software, scalable computing infrastructures, and practical quantum applications. The PhD candidate or Postdoctoral researcher will contribute to reporting activities within the relevant project work packages. The role also involves supporting the preparation of project deliverables, participating in training activities, and contributing to other project-related tasks. Candidate Profile We are looking for interested candidates who have: For PhD candidates: an MSc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. For Postdoctoral candidates: a PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Strong programming and system development skills and experience with quantum computing software architectures or middleware. Strong expertise with software testing, benchmarking, and performance evaluation tools is desirable. Interest in quantum computing and hybrid quantum-classical systems, with motivation to work in an international research collaboration. For Postdoctoral candidates, a track record of scientific publications is desirable.
