Job Description Summary The Radiologic Technologist & Clinical Support Specialist works under limited supervision and is responsible for radiographic procedures at Deacon Health. This position follows the provider's instruction and prepares images for Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) reading, is responsible for technical and clerical work with x-ray, and performs all general x-ray duties. This is a temporary position. Job Description This position is not eligible for sponsorship of non-immigrant or immigrant visa status through Wake Forest University. Essential Functions: Clinical & Diagnostic Conducts diagnostic radiographic studies using computed radiography equipment, applying ALARA principles when positioning patients. Prepares and positions patients, ensuring their safety during the exam; properly shields patients during radiographic procedures. Interacts with patients before, during, and after the x-ray; educates, instructs, and comforts patients; communicates the services offered and general instructions to clients, external parties, and DH staff. Documentation Develops policies and procedures for imaging and transmission of documentation of imaging. Complete registration accurately in the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist electronic system for the radiologist to read the study. Serves as primary liaison with Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist relative to Registration, Department of Radiology and the PACS systems. Compliance Ensures that all regulatory and accreditation standards for the Radiology department are researched, understood, and in compliance. Performs all duties and documentation in accordance with legal, regulatory, fiscal, and accreditation standards (AAAHC) Monitors and evaluates performance improvement and quality indicators. Other Functions: Prepares and maintains equipment. Manages inventory and equipment for the radiology department. Prepares monthly and annual utilization reports and ad hoc reports as necessary. Coordinates maintenance and repairs of all diagnostic equipment and associated technology. Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: ARRT certified. Current BLS (CPR) certification Demonstrated skill in performing all radiologic examinations. Ability to make independent decisions based on radiology theory and practice. Knowledge to properly select/process appropriate radiologic equipment and supplies for examinations. Skill to operate and maintain radiologic equipment. Knowledge of radiation safety guidelines and procedures. Ability to complete AWFBH WakeOne and EPIC training and be proficient at scheduling patients, documentation and function of the system. Operating knowledge of computer scheduling, information data entry and retrieval. Skill to communicate in an effective, informative and non-judgmental manner, in person, by telephone or in writing. Possess excellent interpersonal skills, utilizing tact, and diplomacy in order to interact well with all levels of professional staff, patients and vendors; Skill to write/record patient data coherently and legibly. Ability to follow directions and work as a team member. Knowledgeable in all terminology related to radiography, anatomy, and pathology. Primary duties require exertion of up to 20 pounds of force. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving objects including the human body and mechanical apparatus is required. Frequent standing, kneeling, walking, twisting, and turning is required. Also experience and ability to work in the clinic in pharmacy, lab or providing direct patient care as requested. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Demonstrated experience in Urgent Care or Primary Out-Patient care clinics. Working knowledge of young health concerns. Experience working with AWFBH WakeOne and EPIC computer systems. Experience working as a certified Medical Assistant or similar clinical position. Experience working in any other ancillary clinic fun
