Data Center Operations Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Data Center Operations Engineer to support day-to-day operations across multiple data center facilities in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing hands-and-feet support, performing equipment installations and decommissioning, structured cabling activities, hardware troubleshooting, and ensuring smooth data center operations within a 24x7 environment. This role requires a proactive individual who is comfortable working in a shift-based operational environment and coordinating with internal teams, customers, vendors, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day data center operational activities and provide hands-and-feet support.
• Coordinate with customers, visitors, vendors, and internal stakeholders for planned activities and operational requirements.
• Install, rack, stack, relocate, and decommission servers, network devices, and related equipment.
• Perform structured cabling, patching, labeling, and cable management activities.
• Conduct routine data center walkthroughs, server health checks, and operational inspections.
• Monitor and manage incidents during shift operations and ensure timely escalation where required.
• Support planned maintenance, migration, and change activities across multiple data center sites.
• Troubleshoot hardware-related issues involving servers, storage, and network equipment.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, equipment tracking, and stock management.
• Receive and verify equipment deliveries and manage data center storeroom inventory.
• Maintain visitor records, access logs, and operational documentation.
• Ensure data center cleanliness, safety, and compliance standards are maintained.
• Manage operational tickets, email queues, reporting activities, and documentation updates.
• Travel between various data center locations in Singapore as required.

Requirements

• Mandatory Skills & Experience
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a Data Center Operations or Data Center Technician role.
• Hands-on experience in a data center infrastructure environment.
• Experience working in a 24x7 shift-based operational environment.
• Strong knowledge of server rack and stack procedures.
• Experience in structured cabling, patching, labeling, and cable management.
• Basic troubleshooting skills for server and hardware-related issues.
• Understanding of data center operations, processes, and best practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Data Center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or equivalent).
• Technical certifications such as CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, or related qualifications.
• Experience working with external vendors and service providers.
• Knowledge of data center facilities, environmental controls, and operational standards.
• Familiarity with incident, change, and problem management processes.
• Working Conditions
• 24x7 shift rotation environment.
• May be required to work weekends, public holidays, and after-hours support based on operational requirements.
• Travel between multiple data center locations within Singapore.
• On-site role with physical handling of equipment and cabling activities.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
