Role Wellington Management is seeking an experienced, senior executive to lead our Asia Pacific (APAC) Institutional business, based in Hong Kong, Singapore, or Tokyo. This role will involve setting strategy, driving business growth and developing our next generation of talent. They will bring their insights and deep expertise in APAC, along with strong internal leadership capabilities to lead a high performing team across key APAC markets (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, SEA, Japan and ANZ).
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the APAC Institutional strategy to grow and build market share, defining clear priorities across markets, client segments and products
- Work closely with Institutional Country leads to deepen strategic relationships with key institutional clients, supporting complex mandate discussions and long term partnerships
- Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing regional team, building capability and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability
- Build followership and consensus across teams where there may not be direct oversight, to achieve business objectives, influencing and aligning global and regional stakeholders to deliver client outcomes and consistent servicing standards
- Accountable for overall business results for the APAC Institutional business, setting sales targets, managing pipelines, headcount planning and working closely with finance on budgeting and forecasting to support sustainable growth
- Partner closely with Investment Platform to shape and deliver differentiated client solutions, bringing market insight and client feedback to inform product strategy
- Elevate Wellington's institutional brand through targeted leadership and client engagements, delivering content that is differentiated and aligned to client needs
- Contribute towards broader APAC strategy and regional business planning
- Represent Wellington at key industry forums and client events
- Qualifications / Skills
- We are looking for a candidate who has:
- Proven track record of driving business growth and building long term, client relationships in APAC
- Experience leading and developing a high functioning team regional team, with the ability to attract, retain and inspire top tier talent
- Strong investment acumen and interest, with the ability to communicate market insights to clients, and represent cross-asset portfolios to institutional clients
- Strategic and transformational thinker
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across functions and geographies
- Independence of thought, high degree of intellectual curiosity, and an entrepreneurial nature
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver results in a fast-paced environment that requires exceptional teamwork
- Self motivated, with a high level of integrity and trust, and a commercial and client centric focus
- Has gravitas and ability to present in external client and industry forums
