As a Senior Associate, Packaging Engineer , you'll play an active role in designing, developing, and qualifying new packaging materials, products, and line extensions. Working alongside experienced scientists, engineers, marketers, and manufacturing partners, you'll contribute technical expertise to projects from concept through commercialization while building your skills in package development, testing, and cross-functional collaboration. This position reports to the Research & Development Manager, North America Air Care .

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end packaging development of projects for the North America Region including primary, secondary, and ecommerce packaging.
  • Create robust specifications for packaging components, finished goods, and pallet factors, along with accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) setup.
  • Collaborate with project managers and cross functional teams to build project timeline, deliver key milestones, provide input on technical risks and mitigation plans, and participate in project meetings accordingly.
  • Focus on growth, business continuity, sustainability projects, following the technical processes and procedures in place.
  • Responsible for completing all technical deliverables properly and on time.
  • Complete performance and compatibility testing in support of packaging component changes.
  • Develop validation and line qualification plans, perform lab tests, and document results in technical reports.
  • Provide technical expertise and critical thinking skills to evaluate and correct package-related issues to maintain production schedules and product quality.
  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
  • Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering, packaging science or other relevant engineering disciplines (e.g., Mechanical, Materials, etc.) AND 2+ years of product/packaging development experience, OR an advanced degree and 0 years of experience.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship for full-time employment.
  • PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
  • Strong knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and BOM setup.
  • Experience and technical competency in primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging design, and qualification (e.g., product/package compatibility, distribution/warehouse testing and manufacturing qualification).
  • Expertise in multiple packaging disciplines such as aerosols and liquids packaging, dispensing systems, materials, closures, manufacturing line requirements, plastic molding techniques, and/or product/environment compatibility.
  • Proactive, result driven and initiative-taker.
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written presentation, including effective storytelling to the non-technical individual.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, including anticipation and communication of technical risks and mitigation plans.
  • Strategic thinking and action to effectively navigate complex and/or ambiguous situations.
  • Knowledge of Ecommerce Packaging Design and Qualification.
  • Knowledge of US Department of Transportation Regulations related to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
  • Knowledge of Special Packs and the Warehouse Club Class of Trade.
  • Should possess hands-on experience with AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to effectively enhance productivity and streamline workflows.
  • Experience with any of the following support systems such as PLM, Microsoft Office Suite, CAPE, Winshuttle and WebCenter.
  • JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • This position will be located at Sam's Hall, Mt. Pleasant, WI
  • Full-Time Monday through Friday business hours
  • Remote work is available once a week following a 90-day onboarding period
  • Limited travel may be required
  • Ability to lift 10 - 40 pounds
