Surgical Technician - Certified First Assist

About the role

Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure and performs sponging, suturing, suctioning, holding retractors, and homeostasis. Monitors the patient and equipment during surgery and prepares patients for transport to and from surgery. Job Duties Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during routine and complex assignments in the scrub role. Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Intervenes to correct, minimize, or prevent actual or potential risks, based upon observation of physiological and/or behavioral data. Solves problems, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment. Serves as the preceptor for new employees, transfers, and/or affiliating students.

Requirements

• Technical School Diploma Surgical technician program
• 4 years experience in an operating room.
• Accepts and recognizes differences among people.
• Demonstrates knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the procedure and for maintenance of the sterile field.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the problem solving process in the identification and resolution of patient care or other problems.
• Demonstrates the capacity to become competent and perform a variety of required technical skills.

• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist NBSTSA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
• CFA - Certified Surgical First Assistant NBSTSA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
