About the role

We seek to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering to join our growing team of academics in the School of Computer and Engineering Sciences and help shape the future of our engineering provision. We are especially keen to hear from applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: electronic engineering, electrical power systems, embedded systems, control systems, communications, signal processing, instrumentation, sensors, robotics, automation, Internet of Things, renewable energy systems, or sustainable electrical technologies. Experience of working with industry, professional accreditation, applied research, or practice-based engineering education would be particularly welcome. This role will also support the University's newly established Joint Institute with Sichuan University of Science and Engineering in China. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute as flying faculty, delivering several Electrical and Electronic Engineering modules in China as part of this international partnership. This provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to transnational education, international curriculum delivery, and the development of a distinctive global learning experience for students. As a Senior Lecturer, you will bring your expertise and commitment to high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will contribute to the development and delivery of a modern, industry-relevant curriculum that prepares students for careers in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, automation, intelligent systems, energy, communications, and related technology sectors. You will also play an important role in supporting student learning, supervising projects, contributing to assessment and quality assurance, and helping to strengthen the wider academic work of the School. The successful candidate will hold a relevant higher degree and have experience of teaching, curriculum development, or professional practice in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline. You will be able to design engaging learning experiences and support students from diverse backgrounds. If you do not already hold one, we will support you in working towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and/or Fellowship of Advance HE. We are looking for a collaborative, forward-thinking individual who is committed to excellent teaching, student success, and the development of modern engineering education. You should be willing to contribute to employer engagement, outreach, interdisciplinary activity across computing, engineering, mathematics and technology, and international delivery through our China partnership. We strongly encourage applications from women and individuals from diverse backgrounds as we continue to promote inclusivity within our department. All appointments will be made on merit. For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Silvester Czanner, Head of the School of Computer and Engineering Sciences, at s.czanner@chester.ac.uk .
