About the role
The Recreation Assistant is responsible for assisting in the daily operations and facility usage across all athletic centers at the BSC to ensure customer satisfaction in a safe, clean environment by performing necessary work and supervision of team members. In order to meet the basic requirement of the Recreation Assistant position, NF-0189-02, you must meet one of the following: a) Specialized experience in the recreational field, which may include, but is not limited to: group leader or counselor for recreation programs or summer camps; aid, assistant, coach or teacher for recreation or physical education programs; assistant or sales store clerk in a recreation supplies/equipment shop; aid or assistant in renting of recreational property and equipment; aid or assistant in a hotel or resort recreation service; etc. b) Successfully completed 2 years of education that included at least 12 semester hours in courses related to recreation or physical education. YOU WILL BE RATED ON THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs) FOR THIS POSITION: Experience working in the sports and recreation industry (camp counselor, coach/recreational teacher or aid/assistant, sales associate in a recreation supplies shop, recreational activities coordinator, etc.). Experience in ice rink operations and maintenance is preferred. Experience in customer service, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Skill in multitasking, and self-motivation. Ability to recognize proper identification for patrons, and enforce safety and emergency procedures. Experience using a POS (Point of Sale) system or Cash Register.
