Chief Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the hotel's engineering and maintenance team.
• Oversee daily maintenance operations for guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and all hotel systems.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire safety, and other building systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, breakdowns, and emergencies to minimise disruption to hotel operations.
• Conduct regular inspections of the property to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and equipment condition.
• Ensure all engineering work is carried out in compliance with hotel standards, safety regulations, and local statutory requirements.
• Monitor and control maintenance supplies, spare parts, tools, and inventory.
• Plan, schedule, and prioritize maintenance work to support operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
• Coordinate with external contractors, service providers, and vendors for repairs, servicing, and project works.
• Manage energy usage, utility consumption, and sustainability initiatives to support cost control and environmental goals.
• Prepare maintenance reports, inspection records, service logs, and capital expenditure recommendations.
• Support renovation, refurbishment, and equipment installation projects.
• Train, coach, and develop engineering staff on technical standards, safety procedures, and emergency response.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure the hotel remains safe, functional, and guest-ready at all times.

Additional Information

The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations in the hotel to ensure the property, equipment, and systems are maintained in safe, efficient, and serviceable condition. The role leads the engineering team, manages preventive maintenance, responds to technical issues, and supports the hotel's operational and safety standards.
