Responsibilities

  • Provide direct primary health care to patients, in collaboration with consulting physician and the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentials committee, to include identification, management, and/or referral of health problems.

  • Act as a resource for clinical skills to staff on or off the unit.
  • May participate in teaching students and residents in techniques and procedures which are unique to specific clinical setting.

  • Designs patient education programs that include information required to make informed health care and treatment decisions.
  • Evaluates goals and outcomes taking into account the benefit-versus-burden, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness for the patient, family and the organization.
  • Develops diagnostic strategies and therapeutic interventions needed to achieve the goals and outcomes of the patient's plan of care.
  • Has a deep understanding and response to adverse drug reactions, with special attention to vulnerable populations such as infants, children, pregnant and lactating women, or older adults. Develops and coordinates APP training and professional development activities.

Department BSD OBG - Generalists - Advanced Practice Providers About the Department The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has 114 clinical providers, providing care at the main hospital in Hyde Park and seven off site locations. We have more than 60,000 outpatient visits, 25,000 ultrasound visits, 2,800 deliveries, and 3,000 gynecological surgeries per year. Teaching, research and the highest quality clinical care are top priorities for the Department. The residency and fellowship programs are highly ranked and have a history of training leaders in healthcare. The Department also has a significant research enterprise, engaging in population health studies, as well as research conducted in wet laboratories on tumor biology, fibroid research, and hypertensive diseases in pregnancy. Job Summary The job uses best practices and knowledge of patients and exercises autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The scope of practice includes family support, discharge planning, staff education, consultation and research. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) / Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join our dynamic team within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients under the supervision or alternate supervision of attending physicians. In this role, the APP/APN will provide high-quality medical services across multiple areas, including well-woman care, problem visits, post-operative care, and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Candidates will be heavily involved in our Labor & Delivery unit and will participate in rounding and patient management.
