In addition to meeting all the criteria of an MRI tech II, the MRI tech III performs four additional advanced responsibilities within the department as laid out in the position summary below. The MRI Technologist III must adapt to changes in technology, new imaging techniques, safe and effective imaging practices for patients with and without medical implants. These implants include pacemakers, nerve stimulation devices and electronic pumps that can cause severe injury and or death within the MRI environment. This position requires independent judgement, a comprehensive knowledge of MRI physics, biological effects to human tissue, medical implants and the ability to enforce MRI safety. The candidate must possess inherent compassion for patients with claustrophobia and provide mechanisms to assist the patient in overcoming their discomfort. The MRI Tech III operates under the general supervision of the Radiologist and the MRI Supervisor. Education: Graduate from school of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA/JRCT. Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), ARMRIT, or certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), ARRT MRI Certification required.
