Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Topsides Piping and Static Equipment Engineer to join the Discipline Engineering team. Reporting to the Discipline Engineering Manager, this role will be based in Chevron's office in Bengaluru. Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Piping Engineering
- Lead or support the design and specification of topsides piping systems, including process, utility, relief, and support piping systems.
- Develop and review piping material specifications, line lists, valve specifications, and piping classes.
- Ensure piping designs comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31, API, RP, project and company specifications).
- Coordinate and review piping layout, 3D Model reviews, routing, stress analysis, supports, AIV/FIV and FIT analysis, and flexibility to ensure constructability, operability, and maintainability.
- Static Equipment Engineering
- Provide engineering support for static equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, separators, tanks, scrubbers, filters, dehydration plants, seawater treatment ,process water treatment , potable water, sewage, HVAC, hypochlorite systems,etc .
- Develop and review equipment datasheets, specifications, and requisitions for static equipment packages.
- Review vendor drawings, calculations, and data to ensure compliance with design codes (ASME, API, etc.) and project specification requirements.
- Package & Interface Management
- Act as technical focal point for assigned piping systems and static equipment packages.
- Manage interfaces with process, mechanical, structural, E&I, and controls disciplines to ensure integrated topsides design.
- Support resolution of technical queries, deviations, and non‑conformances related to piping and static equipment.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related from a recognized (AICTE) university.
- Project design experience on the purchase of typical static equipment for offshore facilities as well as piping for offshore facilities
- Experience with 3D models of offshore facilities, piping layouts and B31 piping codes
- Knowledge of API/ASME code and standards applicable to static equipment
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in the design and commissioning of offshore facilities
- Experience supporting offshore topsides facilities (FPSOs, TLPs, spars, semi‑subs, fixed platforms).
- Exposure to multiple project phases including FEED, detailed design, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and startup.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, fabrication yards, and offshore construction teams.
- Advanced experience with topsides piping systems, including process, utility, relief, and support piping.
- Familiarity with piping material classes, valve specifications, and line list development.
- Experience supporting or reviewing pipe stress analysis, supports, AIV/FIV/FIT and flexibility assessments.
- Strong understanding of corrosion, erosion, metallurgy selection, and piping integrity considerations for offshore service.
- Experience coordination 3D model reviews
- Experience with static equipment such as pressure vessels, separators, heat exchangers, tanks, scrubbers, filters, dehydration plants, seawater treatment systems, produced water, hypochlorite, potable water, HVAC, utility systems
- Familiarity with equipment datasheets, technical requisitions, and vendor data review.
- Experience interpreting vendor calculations and drawings in accordance with ASME/API and project specifications.
- Strong working knowledge of ASME B31 piping codes, ASME codes and relevant API standards, and offshore regulatory requirements.
