Role Overview We are seeking a Lead Business Analyst and Technical Specialist to oversee the deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our client's fleet management software platform. This role acts as a functional and technical subject matter expert, specifically focusing on shipboard maintenance and technical asset management modules. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams-including shore-based operations, engineering superintendents, and external software providers-to optimize business workflows, enforce data standards, and support our client's digital transformation goals. Primary Responsibilities System Deployment & Support: Oversee end-to-end deployment life cycles for commercial fleet management systems, including initial scoping, data migration, validation testing, and change management. Act as the point of contact for complex system issues, troubleshooting bugs and coordinating software patches with external vendors. Operational Process Optimization: Evaluate and document current-state ship management workflows (technical engineering, vessel upkeep, dry-docking, and inventory management). Design and implement software configurations that align system capabilities with operational best practices to boost efficiency. Requirements Gathering & Testing: Partner with vessel managers, technical superintendents, and marine personnel to define business needs. Draft clear functional requirements and test scripts, facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and author user training guides for shore and vessel staff. Vendor Performance & Collaboration: Monitor software vendor deliverables against established service level agreements (SLAs). Help prioritize the pipeline of software enhancement requests and future feature rollouts. Position Requirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Marine Engineering, or a related field of study. Professional Experience: 6+ years of experience managing enterprise software deployments, technical business analysis, or IT systems delivery within the maritime or ship management sector. Functional Expertise: Proven experience configuring and supporting industry-standard marine fleet management suites (e.g., asset management, procurement, or planned maintenance modules). Business Analysis Toolkit: Strong capability in requirements engineering, process mapping, and translating complex maritime business workflows into structured technical specifications. Data & Tech Literacy: Basic understanding of data structures, migration strategies, and system integration patterns (such as web services or APIs) used to synchronize data between shore and remote vessels. Desirable Credentials: Professional agile or project management credentials (e.g., Scrum Master, PMP, or equivalent business analysis certifications) are highly valued. Analytical Skills: Solid proficiency with business intelligence or data analytics software (e.g., Power BI) for fleet reporting is an asset. Interpersonal Dynamics: Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge communication gaps between technical developers, corporate management, and offshore mariners.
