About the role

Multi Skilled Operator - South Kirkby, Wakefield £35,000 per annum Shift Pattern - Monday to Friday - 12pm-8pm Key Responsibilities: - Load and sort waste using mobile plant machinery, ensuring compliance with site environmental permit and municipal contract - Work in accordance with SHEQ policies, including the reporting of close calls & incidents - Involvement in best practice and continuous improvement, undertaking regular site audits/checks - Close working relationship with South Kirkby Management Team and staff - Stock control & accurate reporting of contract & non contract waste - Comply with changes to company standards and legislation - Providing light maintenance of equipment - Ensure the highest level of housekeeping is maintained - Cover for reception hall operative as required - Running and maintaining of baler hall operations including operating the baler and loading out material to off takers. - Understanding and running of the facility process control including Scada systems. Essential criteria: - Good understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance - Good people skills; be able to communicate at all levels throughout the company and externally - Previous mobile plant experience (E.g. FLT, Telehandler, loading shovel, ro/ro, TUG). - Good organisational skills - Full UK car driving license Preferable: - CITB card (wheeled loading shovel, wheeled 360, telehandler) - Basic plant maintenance - Logistics operation experience - Basic knowledge of environmental compliance issues associated with waste disposal - Knowledge of SCADA systems Biffa - we're changing the way people think about waste At Biffa, we love working with waste.
