Our Firmware Engineers solve challenging technology problems, and build architecturally sound, high-quality components to enable AWS to realize critical business strategies. We are looking for a Software Development Manager experienced in SSD firmware development to own next-generation storage solution development for AWS world-scale compute and storage. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader seasoned in building and leading software and firmware teams developing vertically integrated, NAND-based storage solutions on custom-built storage controllers. As a manager, you will lead a team of highly motivated software developers who thrive on solving challenging problems with innovative solutions. The team couples software and firmware skill sets with storage and scalable software engineering disciplines to solve real-world data storage problems. You will lead a team building, validating, and operating software solutions across diverse technology domains, primarily embedded software platforms, in C/C++ and other languages, using both proprietary and open-source technologies and Amazon services. You are highly organized, data-driven, and passionate about recruiting, leading, and developing world-class engineering talent, and executing projects on fast-paced timelines. You will collaborate with internal and external development teams (architecture, firmware, hardware, validation, software services, vendors). You will establish strategic vision and drive tactical execution in defining and delivering new products and services. What you will do: You will build and lead a team designing and building transformative AWS-specific hardware, firmware and software for non-volatile memory based storage solutions, including NAND-based SSDs. You will deliver scalable storage solutions and associated operational infrastructure to automate monitoring and analysis services. You will work closely with other AWS software teams to tailor and operate storage solutions for the AWS environment.
