About the role
The Midi Health People team is growing fast - and we need someone to build the machine that powers it. As Director, People Operations, Data & Technology, you will be the architect of our people operating system: the calendar, cadences, data infrastructure, and process backbone that allow the People function - and the broader organization - to scale with clarity and intention. This role sits at the intersection of operational rigor, strategic thinking, and forward-looking org design. You will work across the People team to ensure we are running a high-functioning function and building Midi's capacity to understand, plan, and evolve its workforce over time. You will also lead Midi's AI-native people agenda - modeling what it looks like to work smarter, not just harder, for the rest of the company.
Responsibilities
- People Operating System
- Design and run the operating system of the Midi Health People team: the people calendar, process documentation, and cadences that allow the function to scale
- Build and maintain the infrastructure that creates accountability across the People team - ensuring priorities are clear, progress is tracked, and the team delivers consistently
- Own people policies, handbooks, and operational documentation, keeping them current and accessible
- Workforce Planning & People Analytics
- Own Midi's workforce planning process: building the data infrastructure and forward-looking org design capability that allows the company to stay ahead of its growth rather than react to it
- Build and maintain people analytics capabilities - ensuring data integrity, reporting accuracy, and strong governance across people systems and the full employee lifecycle
- Partner with Finance on headcount planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Translate people data into actionable insights for the VP, People and senior leadership
- HR Technology & Systems
- Own HR systems and tools, including HRIS, benefits administration, and the broader HR tech stack, in partnership with Corporate IT and Product
- Drive process optimization across the employee lifecycle - including onboarding, internal changes, and offboarding - via improved workflows and technology
- Ensure data integrity and governance across all people systems and processes
- AI-Native People Agenda
- Lead Midi's AI-forward people strategy: identifying, prioritizing, and implementing automation and AI across people workflows
- Model what an AI-native people function looks like - and serve as a thought partner to the broader organization as it builds this capability
- Continuously evaluate and introduce tools and approaches that allow the People team to operate with greater speed, quality, and insight
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with multi-state employment laws, audits, and reporting requirements in partnership with Finance, Legal, and other departments
- Own people risk management processes, ensuring the organization is operating within legal and ethical boundaries across all markets
- Cross-Functional Partnership
- Work closely across the People team - with People Partners, Total Rewards, and Talent - to ensure shared processes are well-designed, documented, and consistently executed
- Act as a connector across functions, building alignment between the People team's operating rhythm and the broader company planning cycles
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Business Operations, People Operations or a related function, with a demonstrated track record of building and scaling operational infrastructure in high-growth environments
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability in using data to develop insights and foresights
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement processes and systems that scale - not just fix what's broken today
- Genuine enthusiasm for and experience with AI and automation applied to HR or operational workflows
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple workstreams simultaneously without dropping the ball
- Strong communicator and collaborator; able to build trust and alignment across functions and levels
- Experience working in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment where ambiguity is the norm and structure must be built, not inherited
