The Financial Eligibility Specialist collaborates with internal staff, County departments, and representatives from agencies such as the Social Security Administration, Veterans Affairs, AHCCCS, ALTCS, and the Arizona Department of Economic Security to obtain, maintain, and monitor benefits and financial resources. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage complex financial and eligibility processes accurately and efficiently. Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZ We Require Two years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial recordkeeping, or related financial operations, including entitlement processing and/or trust administration High school diploma or GED A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis. Other Requirements Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona Driver's license by the time of hire Must be able to pass a background check We Also Value Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field Experience with Fiduciary Trusts and Accounting or entitlement benefits eligibility Licensed Fiduciary with the Arizona Supreme Court Job Contributions Monitors account balances to ensure continued eligibility for government income entitlements and compliance with resource threshold requirements. Coordinates, processes, and tracks financial transactions, activities, and related documentation. Monitors and prepares accountings/reporting on Special Needs Trusts (SNTs), Income Only Trusts (IOTs), ABLE/Stable Accounts, and other financial arrangements, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and program requirements while preserving eligibility for public benefits. Provides guidance and support to department staff and coordinates with entitlement programs and government agencies to facilitate financial processes, benefit administration, and eligibility maintenance. Coordinates, applies for, renews, and maintains government entitlement benefits for assigned caseload. Performs Social Security Representative Payee duties, including annual reporting, resource monitoring, benefit management, and communication with the Social Security Administration.
