EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Associates degree or higher in Plumbing Technology or closely related field. 4 or more years of work experience in the Plumbing field. Journeyman or Master Journeyman License will be considered. Teaching experience preferred. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES , include the following. This position is a full-time ( 11 month ) instructor primarily for Hinds Community College Construction and Manufacturing Pathway at the Vicksburg campus but may need to float between campuses as needed. Currently, this position will teach day classes with the option to teach night classes during the summer. Teaches students the occupational competencies necessary for employment. Must have or willing to learn certain computer competencies. Keep prompt, up-to-date, accurate records of attendance, grades, and other reports. Prepares course competency-based outlines for each instructional course or program. Prepares detailed lesson, job sheets, and laboratory for all units of instruction. Recommends changes in the total curriculum in order to maintain and up-to-date program. Develops and maintains the progress of each student in the program. Teaches related subject matter. Develops a schedule of courses for each semester. Reviews and selects instructional materials such as textbooks, tools, and audio-visual materials. Completes requests for supplies and other instructional materials on a timely basis. Completes enrollment and follow up reports. Assists in the development of an annual budget for the instructional program. Maintains a clean and safe laboratory/shop environment. Recommends new and/or replacement equipment to be purchased for the program. Maintains proper inventory of all equipment and tools assigned to the program. Keeps equipment functioning and in good working order by establishing an effective preventive maintenance system. Maintains an active industry advisory committee. Maintains a good industry relationship for the purpose of student placement for potential employment and donations. Takes an active role in the advisement, counseling of students and registering students. Helps students find employment in an occupation related to training. Fulfils the requirements of a technical certification by attending specified classes and workshops. Serves on various faculty committees. Attends faculty meeting and professional development workshops and training. Issue to students a course syllabus or policy letter at the beginning of the semester and objective sheets for each unit of the course during the semester. Keep classes in session for the full scheduled time. (Classes identified in the schedule as independent study classes will meet according to requirements of the instructor and/or the Dean.) Set aside sufficient time for student conferences, guidance, and tutorial assistance. (Minimum of 6 hours per week required) Follow the required institutional process for recording student attendance and identifying "no-shows" in a timely manner. Participate in student/teacher and faculty/administrator evaluations and performance review conferences. Meet reporting requirements of the State Office of Vocational Technical Education. Develop a personal and professional improvement plan in those areas deemed necessary as a result of evaluations. Participate in departmental meetings, formulation, execution, and evaluations of departmental goals and objectives. Cooperate in the execution of the college, division, and department policies. Participate in staff development activities, professional associations, presentations, publications, applied educational research, consulting, evaluations, and similar activities which enhance the individual and the education profession. Use teaching techniques that include the effective utilization of resources that motivate students to achieve their potential.
