Te Tūranga - About the role We are looking for a lawyer to join our awesome legal team for 12 months covering maternity leave and are open to either Legal or Senior Legal Counsel candidates. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in one of New Zealand's largest companies and work in a high-performing and highly regarded in-house legal team in a very supportive and inclusive environment. You will support the General Counsel, Associate General Counsel and other lawyers in managing the legal function of Foodstuffs NI (Foodstuffs) and national Foodstuffs companies. Focus areas include: - Providing legal support across Foodstuffs and establishing strong effective relationships. - Manage stakeholders across the co operative and working with and managing external lawyers. - Advising Foodstuffs' property team and instructing external lawyers on leasing documentation and other property agreements for our $2 billion + property portfolio. - Advising on high profile marketing campaigns (e.g. New World), intellectual property and privacy matters. - Supporting on mergers and acquisitions. - Drafting, reviewing and advising on key strategic commercial and supply contracts. - Company secretarial and corporate governance work. - Supporting the business on compliance with regulatory matters, including advising on the new Grocery Industry Competition Act. - Foodstuffs crisis management and litigation dispute management. - Supporting the Legal team on legal innovation and efficiencies. You will be very closely supported by senior leaders in the Foodstuffs Legal Team. Committed with a great attitude, keys to your success will also include: - A tertiary qualification in Law with at least 2-5 years' PQE - Training from a reputable law firm. - Ability to perform under pressure. - A flexible and open attitude. - A willingness and enthusiasm to learn and contribute. - Being a team player with aspirations to develop your leadership. Previous in-house legal experience (e.g. secondment experience) would be an advantage, but not a necessity for success in the role.
