Senior Software Development Manager - Finance Platform

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and grow a team of 8-14 backend engineers building core settlement platform services
• Own technical delivery of key platform capabilities including revenue/inventory accounting, AR/AP processing, tax invoicing, integration with fintech & SAP.
• Partner with Product, Accounting, Treasury, and Tax teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Drive architecture decisions across Java backend services, distributed data stores (MySQL/ TiDB , DynamoDB, Aurora), and streaming infrastructure (Kafka, Flink, Spark)
• Establish engineering excellence - code quality, operational readiness, on-call practices, and incident response
• Manage cross-functional dependencies and delivery timelines across multiple platform capabilities
• Mentor engineers, conduct performance reviews, and build a high-performing engineering culture
• Drive migration from legacy SAP-based settlement to modern microservices architecture
• Ensure platform reliability, correctness, and auditability for financial-grade systems processing billions in daily settlements

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering management
• Strong technical background in Java backend development and distributed systems
• Experience managing teams of 10 + engineers through full development lifecycle
• Hands-on experience with relational databases (MySQL, Aurora, TiDB ) and NoSQL (DynamoDB)
• Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (Kafka, Flink, or Spark)
• Track record of delivering large-scale, high-reliability platforms on time
• Strong communication skills - ability to translate between business stakeholders and engineering teams
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• Experience in finance, accounting, payments, or e-commerce settlement domains
• Experience with financial-grade systems (auditability, reconciliation, idempotency, data correctness)
• Experience migrating legacy monolithic systems to microservices
• Experience with OLAP/analytics engines (Hive, Pinot) for operational reporting
• Experience operating at scale in a fast-growing, multi-country environment

You will own the technical direction, delivery, and people growth for your team while partnering closely with business stakeholders to deliver a world-class finance & settlement platform. The CGFS (Coupang Global Financial Settlement) team is responsible for the end-to-end settlement platform - from vendor master management and AR/AP register s , through netting engines and tax invoicing, to payment execution and GL posting. We process billions of dollars in settlements annually across multiple countries and business models.
