About the role

Role Purpose The Chartering Manager is responsible for driving and executing the commercial chartering strategy for the tanker fleet. Contract Management: Lead the administration, nomination, and execution of Contracts of Affreightment (CoA) to ensure strict compliance and operational efficiency. Financial Optimization: Prepare, review, and approve complex voyage estimations, freight calculations, and commercial proposals. Performance Monitoring: Continuous evaluation of vessel schedules, deployment strategies, and port turnaround times to maximize voyage margins and performance. Market Intelligence: Conduct deep-market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, spot-market opportunities, and commercial risks. Contractual & Legal Governance Fixture Documentation: Draft, review, and finalize charter party agreements, ensuring all terms mitigate risk and comply with global maritime legal and regulatory standards. Dispute Resolution: Proactively address contractual ambiguities and collaborate closely with legal and claims departments to resolve disputes or demurrage issues. Systems & Reporting: Leverage advanced chartering software and data applications to drive informed, data-backed commercial decisions. Financial Planning: Support the leadership team in budgeting, revenue forecasting, and financial reporting activities related to fleet operations. Key Stakeholder Relationships Internal Collaboration Operations Department: Partner closely to monitor voyage progress, optimize vessel performance, and resolve real-time operational challenges to protect profitability. Post-Fixture Department: Coordinate to ensure seamless, timely invoicing, and expedite the collection of outstanding accounts receivable. Management & Legal: Provide regular updates on market exposure, fixture statuses, and legal risk mitigation. External Network Market Presence: Act as the primary commercial point of contact for the company. Relationship Management: Build, leverage, and maintain an extensive network of shipbrokers, charterers, cargo owners, and industry stakeholders. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Requirements Technical Competencies Industry Expertise: Deep understanding of chemical cargo handling (including IMO regulations and safety standards), maritime law, and international chartering practices. Analytical Tools: High proficiency in advanced chartering software (e.g., IMOS, Veson) and digital voyage estimation tools. Financial Acumen: Strong capability in commercial arithmetic, P&L evaluation, and macroeconomic market analysis. Leadership & Core Competencies Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to close high-value deals and manage complex contract negotiations under pressure. Strategic Thinking: Ability to foresee market shifts and pivot fleet employment strategies accordingly. Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior external stakeholders. Education & Experience Education: Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Maritime Studies, Shipping & Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience specifically within tanker chartering or commercial shipping operations.
